AGE Concern Eastbourne, an independent charity meeting the needs of older people in the Eastbourne area is looking to appoint a part-time (21 hours per week) Strategic Development Manager. Responsibilities will include the development, implementation and delivery of a three year funding strategy with clear targets that broaden the funding base and deliver restricted and unrestricted income streams.

Delay to delivery of
new minibus for AGE Concern Eastbourne

The expected delivery of the new 12 seater minibus for AGE Concern Eastbourne has been
delayed due to a backlog in pre-delivery safety checks carried out by VOSA, the
Vehicle & Operators Service Agency.

Recent legislation has imposed the same level of testing on minibuses as previously
applied to buses and coaches. Since there are only four main centres for these
tests throughout England all centres are fully booked weeks in advance. One
supplier has reported a current backlog of 17 minibuses all of which are due
for delivery to organisations, schools and charities.

As a result the Eastbourne-based charity will now hope to have the new minibus delivered in
mid May. Following training of volunteers on the use of the new tail-lift and
other access features the first on-the-road event is likely to be in the
Eastbourne Sunshine Carnival procession on 2^nd June.

In early June the new shopping service will be unveiled offering new routes from
Polegate, Jevington and Wannock as well as the established routes from the town
centre, Meads, Willingdon, Hampden Park, Langney and Sovereign Harbour. Some
routes will be revised as a result of more efficient route-planning.

In addition it is expected that there will be a demand for leisure trips from AGE Concern’s
own day clubs and external groups. Full details are available from Roger or
